New book on Croatia’s artistic heritage

There are many Croatian artists throughout the history of art who are known under their italianized or Latin names.  For instance

Master Radovan,

Juraj Čulinović (Giorgio Schiavone),

Franjo and Lucijan Vranjanin (Francesco and Luciano Laurana), who were born in the vicinity of Zadar

Ivan Duknović (Giovanni Dalmata)

Andrija Medulić (Andrea Meldola/ Andrea Schiavone)  born in the Zadar (where I live),

Julije Klović (Giulio Clovio/ Julius Clovius) ,

Federiko Benković (Federico Benkovich), etc…

All of them deserve separate posts (which I intend to do), but I am mentioning their names here because they are covered in a new book which  Frances Lincoln published two months ago. It’s  title is Croatia: Aspects of Art, Architecture and Cultural Heritage

A review of the book appeared on The Art Newspaper’s online edition.
