Ivo Dulčić

Ivo Dulčić (1916 -1975) was born in Dubrovnik. He enrolled the Zagreb Academy relatively late (at 25), since he had studied law before that. Dulčić’s artistic voice was a mixture of quick, expressive drawing, coupled with refined sense for colour and texture. It’s a pity he is not known outside Croatia, since I think his artistic voice nicely resonates with a contemporary taste.  Below is one of my favourite Dulcic’s paintings. It was done in 1949. Unfortunately I do not have it in higher resolution.
